Greetings from Crusader Country! Much has taken place since our alumni games in January. Here are a few of the highlights!
In February, Pastor Hon and I took the juniors and seniors to the Georgia State Capitol to participate in the Student Legislative Day through Citizen Impact. They met various senators and representatives and learned a great deal about state politics. One week later, Mrs. Farnsworth and I took the fourth grade on their annual trip to the Georgia State Capitol. Mrs. Farnsworth was extremely knowledgeable regarding the Capitol as she took her students on a tour.
In March, our junior and senior high students participated in the GACS Fine Arts competition. Students had the opportunity to compete in the categories of Bible, Music, Art, Speech, and Academics. We placed at state in many categories. In our senior high division, the students had the opportunity to advance to national competition. We had five students make it to national competition in eight different categories. I am extremely proud of all our participants and their diligent work during the months leading to competition. Our elementary will be participating in Fine Arts competition on April 28.
We ended the third quarter on March 17, and the students enjoyed their spring break the next week. During spring break and after, we purchased some furniture for our “in progress” science lab from purposed donations to our school. I am looking forward to the Lord providing funds to complete the lab. Our plan is to install science lab flooring, to purchase student lab tables and chairs, and to purchase a vent hood for chemical demonstrations. I have included pictures of the new furniture at the bottom of this update. I am thankful for all that the Lord has given to us this school year through donations.
On March 28, we had our first Open House. The Lord brought us several families visiting our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. We will have another Open House on April 25, in conjunction with our junior and senior high academic fair. Please be in prayer that the Lord will bring the parents He knows that we need to partner with to invest in the next generation of Christian leaders!
As I type this letter, we have begun the third week of our last quarter of school for the 2016 – 2017 year. Our students are amid standardized academic testing, and I am in disbelief of how quickly the year has progressed! I am looking forward to the remainder of the year as we conclude one school year and prepare for the next.
