GACS Fine Arts Competition Information

  • Grace Christian School holds membership in the Georgia Association of Christian Schools (GACS) and the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS). Each year, Grace Christian School participates in Fine Arts competition through the GACS.
  • Fine Arts competition is offered to elementary students in grades 4th  6th, junior high students in grades 7th  9th, and senior high students in grades 10th  12th. If senior high students place first at the state level in any event, a position is secured for them at the national competition hosted by the AACS several weeks after state competition.
  • Fine Arts is divided into five main categories. These categories are Bible, academics, music, art, and speech. Included with this document is a further division of these categories into their individual events. Students may sign up for these events as early as August, but no later than October, to ensure the most productive and efficient preparation for competition. School personnel will do their best to accommodate practice time for all students involved. State competition is held at the beginning of March, and national competition is held at the beginning of April.
  • After registration in our home school partnership, each event is $10 for participation. Further information or details regarding the individual events can be obtained through our school office at (706) 323 9161.

Standardized Achievement test Information

Grace Christian School hosts standard achievement tests for our 1st  12th grades. This optional opportunity at our school is $15 to those that have registered; however, students can participate in this opportunity at a rate of $30 without registering.

The tests will take place April 2 6, 2018 at the school. Tests will be taken during the first two hours of each school day.

The tests are in two parts including the University of Iowa Assessment and Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The Iowa Assessments measure our students' knowledge in key areas such as reading, mathematics, science, social sciences, and language arts; CogAT tests measure our students' intellectual and reasoning abilities. Results from these tests will be sent to the school in July 2018.
